EU LOOKS AT NEW LABELLING RULES
The EU food industry has been asked to comment on proposals from the European Commission to improve food quality, labelling and certification systems within Europe.
In a green paper, Brussels called for detailed comments on possible tightening of rules for food quality certification schemes to “avoid the risk of consumers being misled” by associated labelling. It wants comments on whether the geographical origin of all foods should be la-belled, and how detailed that in-formation should be.
